Come for the stay, leave with a bag of prints

Apologies to my extended family. They've come round for a weekend stay and they've left with a new found addiction to 3d printing..

It started with my father in law looking fascinated by my tales of printed possibilities, especially thinking toward car related prints for his various projects. Then when I taught the visitors how to search for 3d printing files (stls) suddenly it was on. Keyrings and kids toys kept the extruder busy and suddenly my sister in law is learning the basics of Tinkercad in between coffee's.

Painted up, baby groot looks awesome and there's a big hole in the top and the back of his head to run a ring through as a keyring.

The One Piece and Dragonball logo are also keyrings (each Nephew has different tastes) while the Marshall dog from Paw Patrol is a bought file that came in three pieces. Unfortunately I managed to break 3 out of his 4 legs due to the jungle of supports that printed with it but once again it was superglue to the rescue. Painted up by my sister in law, there's now some very happy kids with bits and pieces on the ride home.

The mother in law wanted a bus similar to the one she drives as a living. Unfortunately there's a supreme lack of exact Mercedes buses to download so we found this and changed a few pieces around in Tinkercad, adding the Floods logo and going from there.

And finally for the baseball loving brother in law, a named and painted mini bat is heading his way. Once again I can't praise the Parasite Brown color of Game Colors enough - it truly looks like it's been milled out of wood.

Not pictured: the Nintendo Switch game card holder my nephew made. Apparently he got the dimensions for the game card off Google but after printing the piece and attempting to slot things in, I'm a little sceptical. A normal SD card fits in one of the slots...we haven't worked out what he can use for the other three..

Apparently they've got some ideas for their next visit. Given the love of the Ender 3 V2, that probably won't be too long... c:
